Join Pepco to Celebrate Earth Day!

This Sunday marks the 42nd annual Earth Day. Pepco’s “Green Team” will be supporting and participating in the Anacostia River Clean-up, and we hope you join us!

The Anacostia River Clean-up and Celebration will be hosted by the Anacostia Watershed Society on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at RFK Stadium Lot #6 (adjacent to the Kingman Island site). The Clean-up will run from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., and participants are invited to attend a picnic celebration from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. For more information, please visit the event website.

At Pepco, we take our commitment to the environment seriously. Our business is to deliver safe, reliable and affordable electricity to our customers, and we work hard to protect the environment. Pepco supports efforts that help our customers save energy, including investments in smart grid technology and energy-efficiency programs designed to support EmPOWER Maryland – Governor O’Malley’s plan to reduce energy consumption by 15 percent in the state by 2015.
In addition, Pepco is committed to performing tree trimming operations – a key component of our ongoing reliability improvement efforts – in an environmentally responsible manner. Pepco is recognized annually by the National Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree Lines USA utility, and we are the only U.S. utility to be recognized by the National Wildlife Habitat Foundation for excellence in habitat management.
