Last Saturday, April 9, Pepco’s “Green Team,” led by Pepco Holdings, Inc. CEO Joe Rigby, did their part to help clean up the Anacostia River. More than 60 Pepco volunteers, including field personnel, executives, supporting employees, and their families demonstrated the company’s commitment to the community and environment in this annual initiative.
Joined by over 100 other volunteers, Pepco representatives operated along the shoreline (on foot and in hip waders) and in the river (in canoes and kayaks) to retrieve a variety of litter. That litter was then sorted by type; garbage and recyclables.
By the end of the day, volunteers filled two industrial size, 40 yard containers with trash and recyclable materials. That’s a lot of garbage! The top three oddest types were…
