PHI’s Chevy Volt Press Conference

On Monday, January 25, Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) held a press conference in the Edison Place parking garage to showcase the new Chevy Volt.  Our Chairman & CEO, Joe Rigby, announced our plan to purchase 10 Chevy Volts to add to our vehicle fleet.  In addition to the Chevy Volt, we announced our first two charging stations.  Both stations are located in the Edison Place parking garage.

Several PHI and Chevrolet executives were in attendance as well as PHI employees and the media.  I got a chance to speak with PHI’s Joe Rigby & Hallie Reese and Chevy’s Tony Posawatz (on video).

Tony Posawatz, the Chevy Volt Line Director showed off a nifty mobile app. where users can schedule charging their Volt from their cell phone.  Joe Rigby expressed his excitement about our step closer to achieving the smart grid.  Hallie Reese, PHI’s VP of Safety & Strategic Service explained our pledge to support the EEI Commitment Statement, which includes the following:

  • Infrastructure
  • Customer Support
  • Customer Education
  • Vehicle Infrastructure Incentives, and
  • Utility Fleets.

After speaking with these executives at the press conference, I can honestly say I’m excited to see what’s next.

‘Til the next post,

Andre
